These environments and conditions can simulate the types of product conditions you might face. Please read on temperature test chamber guide.
If you want to learn about the temperature test chamber, then our guide is for you. It covers everything you need to know about a temperature test chamber in terms of definition, how it works, benefits, and more. You’ll learn everything you need to know in this guide – let’s get started:
The temperature test chamber is used for environmental tests, semiconductor tests, chemical stability tests, and other special equipment. You know what? Temperature chambers can range in size from small benchtop equipment to very large industrial equipment. However, a uniform and accurate temperature should always be maintained throughout the temperature chamber.
What we can tell you is that depending on the compressor type, the temperature range of the temperature chamber will change before. For example, it is generally -40 ~ -80 ° C, but it can reach up to 300 ~ 350 ° C. Therefore, many test scenarios need to be tested at different temperatures. The rapid rate of change in the temperature chamber allows for more accurate measurements. Our incubators also meet GMP/GLP standards and interface with software that complies with FDA Guideline 21 CFR Part 11.
In fact, a temperature chamber (also known as a climate chamber or climate chamber) simulates the effects of a range of temperature conditions on a product or material. This is the temperature test chamber work.
1) Composed of the temperature test chamber
Generally speaking, the temperature test chamber is composed of two parts: temperature regulation (heating and cooling) and humidification. The working principle is: by installing a rotating fan on the top of the box, the air is discharged into the box.
To achieve the gas circulation and temperature and humidity balance in the box. The data collected by the temperature and humidity sensor in the container is transmitted to the temperature. In fact, the humidity controller (micro information processor) is edited and controlled by the air heating unit, condensing tube, and evaporation unit in the sink.
The temperature regulation of the constant temperature test chamber is controlled by the thermostat (micro information processor). The built-in temperature sensor in the box collects data, and the temperature is controlled by a micro-information processor. You can turn on the air heater to increase the temperature or adjust the cooling solenoid valve to lower the room temperature to control the desired temperature.
2) The humidity of a constant temperature
Usually, the humidity of a constant temperature and humidity room is regulated by a humidity sensor in the body. He collects the data, adjusts it with a humidity controller (a micro information processor), and connects it to the heating element of the sink. Finally, by evaporating the water in the tank, increasing the humidity in the tank, or adjusting the cooling solenoid valve, the dehumidification effect is achieved. To control the humidity you need.
Our constant temperature and humidity rooms have multiple protective measures. The temperature system is equipped with an overtemperature protector, and the air heating element can be automatically closed with the stop of the rotating fan. The humidifier system can stop the power supply as the water level of the humidifier tank decreases. And the refrigeration system can stop working with the increase in the box temperature (above 40 ° C) or the increase in humidity.
Not all specimens can be tested in the temperature humidity test chamber, below items are unsuitable for the environmental test:
A. Explosives
- Other explosive nitro compounds include trinitrobenzene, trinitrotoluene, and trinitrophenol (picric acid).
- Nitrated glycols (ethylene glycol dinitrate), nitroglycerin (glycerol trinitrate), nitrocellulose, and other explosive nitrates.
- Peracetic acid, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, and other organic peroxides.
B.Flammables:
1. Potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate, and other nitrates
- Metals: lithium, potassium, sodium, yellow phosphorus, phosphorus sulfide, red phosphorus
- Minerals: calcium carbide (calcium carbide), phosphates lime, magnesium powder, aluminum powder, sodium bisulfite
- Oxide properties: Potassium chlorate, sodium chlorate, ammonium chlorate, and other chlorates, Potassium peroxides, sodium peroxides, ammonium peroxides, and other peroxides and other inorganic peroxides, Potassium hypochlorite and other hypochlorites, Sodium chlorite, and other chlorites
C.Easy to burn items:
- Methanol, ethanol, dimethyl stupid, acid vinegar pentyl ester, and other materials that ignition at 0℃ above but below 30℃.
- There are many substances that ignite below -30 degrees Celsius, such as ethyl ether, gasoline, acetaldehyde, propylene oxide, carbon disulfide, and others.
- Ethane, ethylene oxide, acetone, benzene, methyl ethyl ketone, and other ignition at -30°C above and less than 0°C below the material.
- Kerosene, light oil, turpentine, isoamyl alcohol, acid vinegar, and other substances above 30℃ below 65℃.
D.Partial flammable gases:
Hydrogen, acetylene, ethylene, methane, ethane, propane, butane, and other gases at a temperature of 15℃, which may burn at atmospheric pressure, and their ignition is too low.
In fact, the price of a temperature test chamber depends on many factors. Here, we try to touch on some of them and explain what you should look for when buying a temperature lab. At present, there are two temperature test chambers to choose from, which are designed according to European standards and national standards respectively. The accessories used in these two standards are very different.
For example, most of the accessories of the national standard laboratory are imported brands. For example, in France’s Tecumseh compressor, some small accessories may be domestic brands. Take the sealing strip. The thermal insulation foam is made in China. European standard test chamber, double compressor, and some accessories for imported brands.
And we can say that the brands chosen are basically good in this industry. It can ensure that the frequency of device failure is reduced again. In addition, there are other major factors that directly determine the price of the temperature test chamber.
1) Other major factors
- It can be observed that the craftsmanship of the cabinet affects the quality of the shell, and the price is also different. The price of the board seam is less than 800 US dollars.
- Components, especially the components of the refrigeration system, are the core values
of the temperature test chamber. - Even if the body is the same as the refrigeration element, some prices are different, that is the refrigeration technology level of the manufacturer, which is understood by everyone.
- In terms of after-sales, generally speaking, powerful manufacturers often have a perfect after-sales service department. How to identify the strength of the manufacturer? In the environmental test equipment industry, the best way is to visit an environmental test chamber manufacturer. Because doing so on the one hand can understand the equipment, but also can observe the strength of the company.
The above is not only the technical aspect, but also the service aspect, and the difference between local delivery and overseas delivery from areas, logistics costs, etc.
Standards
- IEC 60068-2-1:2007: Low-temperature testing
- IEC 60068-2-2:2007: High-temperature testing
- JGB 150.3-1986: High-temperature testing
- JGB 150.4-1986: Low-temperature testing
- GB/T 2423.1-2008: Low-temperature testing
- GB/T 2423.2-2008: High-temperature testing
- GB/T 31485-2015: Safety requirements and test methods for electric vehicles’ power batteries
The choice of temperature test chamber may not be particularly clear to you, and we do not know how to choose. So in order to enable you to choose a good quality temperature test chamber, we have summarized the following four key requirements.
First, control system: the control system is the chamber’s software aspect. We all know that a temperature test chamber is made up of hardware and software. Hardware is like the organs of the human body. Only with these organs, we could be complete, and the software is equivalent to the heart and brain of a person. It determines the operation and operation mode of the equipment.
Therefore, the control system of the temperature and humidity test chamber is very important, just like people need a healthy heart and a smart brain. If there is an accurate and stable control system, it can be reasonable to arrange the running status and running time of each accessory unit of the equipment. Making the equipment in good running condition at any time can effectively improve the performance of your equipment and reduce the failure rate.
Second, equipment material: it is well known that equipment material refers to the configuration of equipment. Such as compressors, sensors, and so on. Of course, the quality is guaranteed. However, there are many temperature and humidity laboratory manufacturers who want to reduce manufacturing costs, resulting in a large difference in price or quality, so you need to screen.
Third, manufacturing process: According to the survey, there are many temperature and humidity test chamber manufacturers that use good materials. However, the performance of the equipment such as service life or failure rate is not satisfactory. It’s a matter of their manufacturing technology and their core technology.
1) Conclusion
In fact, in the environmental testing industry, many manufacturers are not independent in equipment research and development. Most of them have witnessed the growth of well-known companies and have followed suit. For example, the shape and structure of the device may look similar, but it does not work well.
Just like the difference between genuine and imitation products, there seems to be no problem, but the operation is different. No matter how advanced the imitation, also can not stand the test of time.
Finally, the after-sales service time is not long. At present, there are many irresponsible manufacturers in the market. Therefore, the user must have a clear after-sales service agreement when choosing the manufacturer, which can prevent you from encountering more trouble in the future.
Please note that when conducting high and low-temperature tests, you should understand the required test sample performance, test conditions, test procedures, and test standards, technical performance, and equipment structure. Especially the operation and performance of the controller. At the same time, please read the instruction manual of the test equipment carefully to avoid damage to the test sample and wrong data due to abnormal operation.
Please select the high and low temperature test chambers correctly. In order to ensure the accuracy of the test, please choose the appropriate test equipment according to the different conditions of the test sample. And the effective volume between the test sample and the test chamber should be maintained in a reasonable proportion.
In addition, for heated test samples, the volume should not exceed 1/10 of the chamber volume. The volume of the test sample should not exceed 1/5 of the volume of the test chamber. For example, the 1000L test box can meet the requirements of a 21 ‘color TV in the storage temperature test, but it cannot meet the requirements after being powered on. Therefore, we recommend that it is necessary to change to a larger test room because the TV will heat up when working.
1) Test sample and wet heat test chamber
You need to place the test sample correctly. In the high and low-temperature test chambers, the test sample should be placed in the same horizontal position. And the outlet should not be blocked, and the temperature and humidity sensor should be kept at a certain distance to ensure that the test temperature is correct.
Please use the wet heat test chamber correctly. A wet heat test has certain requirements for the quality of indoor wet bulb gauze. Due to different root temperatures and root humidity relative humidity readings, not all gauze can be substituted.
In this case, the wet-bulb temperature is related to the amount of moisture and evaporation on the surface of the gauze. These are directly related to the quality of the gauze, so the wet gauze s/b linen (” wet bulb gauze “). Otherwise, it is difficult to ensure that the wet bulb thermometer displays the correct value, that is, the correct humidity. At the same time place wet gauze s/b clearly specified, gauze length:100mm. And tightly wound 20-30mm away from the humidity sensor probe, and probe cup, so as to ensure that the gauze is immersed in water.
Firstly, calibration under no-load conditions. In contrast, the main advantage of this method is that the entire working area of the temperature test chamber can be calibrated and the applicability of the temperature test chamber can be effectively evaluated. In addition, the effect of the test sample on the performance of the temperature test chamber is unclear.
Secondly, calibrate under load. In contrast, the advantages of this calibration method are very obvious, and it can more accurately detect the influence of the test sample on the performance of the cavity. As a result, detailed environmental testing of key parts of the sample can be easily obtained.
Thirdly, the sample is recalibrated after the change.
Fourthly, we carried out real-time measurements during the use of the temperature test chamber. In addition to the advantages of the second method above, you can also obtain the overall environmental parameters of the test sample during the test.
The temperature test chamber is suitable for many fields. For example aerospace products, various electronic components, and so on. Test the reliability of your product performance in high-temperature, low-temperature, or wet environments.
In general, companies can provide a variety of environmental test chambers for temperature testing. The lowest temperature can be as low as -80 ℃, and the highest temperature can reach 200℃. The size range of the environmental chamber can also be customized according to your requirements, for example, as small as testing small parts, saving space and cost. Walk-in environments are large enough to test motorcycles, cars, or multiple items such as computers and screens simultaneously.
Our temperature test chamber simulates temperature and humidity. So you have a lot to pay attention to during use. Despite the detailed instructions when purchasing the device, some users just know how the device works and start using it. In this way, it is easy to cause problems during the use of the equipment. So here we intend to introduce you to the safety details of the temperature and humidity box during use.
It is also worth noting that the housing of the high-low test chamber must be grounded during installation. If the high and low-temperature test chamber is not grounded, there will be a risk of electric shock when leakage occurs. Therefore, you do not run the high and low-temperature test chamber before installation, and confirm the installation is reliable before the test.
What’s more, if your heated sample is placed in the laboratory, use an external power source as the sample control power source, and do not directly use the power source of this laboratory. Because the operation of the cabinet will generate dangerous currents, non-professionals should not open the lid of the electric control cabinet.
If the high and low-temperature test chamber does not have a humidification function, you should pay attention to the difference between use and requirements when reading the instructions.
The test chamber is operated under the control of the controller. Please start the motors and fans as instructed. To avoid personal injury caused by the sudden start of a component, do not touch a component that is temporarily stationary. When you do need to get close to rotating parts, turn off the main power switch while working on site. Make sure the protective device is in good condition.
1) Some considerations
Moreover, do not move the test chamber when there are samples in it. Otherwise, the sample may be reversed or dropped. Before use, please ensure that the high and low-temperature test chamber is fixed. Caster off the ground, feet adjust to the ground. Otherwise, the test chamber will move unexpectedly when subjected to external forces.
Of course, before the test, you should determine whether the sample contains flammable and explosive substances. Avoid burning or explosion during the test. On the other hand, it is also necessary to ensure that there are no flammable and explosive substances around the test equipment. Otherwise, it may cause fire and other accidents.
Finally, do not open the hatch during the experiment. Otherwise, the gases in the laboratory may cause burns to the operator. Secondly, when the test is over or the temperature test box is cleaned regularly, the power supply of the equipment should be turned off to avoid electric shock accidents. In addition, when cutting off the power supply of the device, unplug the power cord. Otherwise, the power cable may be broken.
If there is something you don’t understand, you can contact the manufacturer. Do not disassemble and repair the temperature and humidity laboratory without authorization, otherwise, it may lead to more serious problems.
With the development of science and technology, the quality of climate chambers has improved and the failure rate has decreased. But the failure rate is still there. Today, we will introduce you to the main influencing factors of a large noise temperature laboratory:
External factors: uneven bottom angle, uneven ground, adjust the bottom angle to ensure that the equipment is in a horizontal position;
- When the device hits other objects or is pushed against the wall, remove the object and keep a certain distance from the wall.
- Compressor noise: Check whether the compressor and the pipeline collide and whether the evaporator disc is loose.
- Check whether the compressor shock absorber is aging and replace it.
- Solenoid valve noise: The solenoid valve has a loud commutation sound, please add damping glue. If it does not work, you need to replace the solenoid valve. If there is AC noise, replace the power board.
- Check whether the fan or fan shaft is noisy, whether the fan blades are touched and deformed, and whether the fan is fixed, please adjust or add rubber pads accordingly.
The temperature lab has brought a lot of help to many industrial enterprises. However, while bringing us convenience, we must take good care of it. Otherwise, it may enter the end-of-life stage prematurely. Maintenance is also very simple. After daily use, the equipment should be cleaned regularly, but the cleaning of the laboratory should also be skilled. Failure to do so may also result in device failure. Let’s take a look at how to extend the service life of the temperature and humidity test chamber.
1) Wash the studio with clean water after each use, then dry the inside with a dry cotton cloth.
2) Regularly dust the evaporator inside the equipment, and wipe the equipment regularly to ensure that the equipment is clean and tidy.
3) When doing the test, the sample should be placed evenly on the sample holder, and the vent hole should not be blocked to prevent the test from being affected.
4) Usually pay attention to the cleaning of the water tank. After the end of the test or when the equipment is not intended to be used for a long time, you should drain all the water in the tank. Otherwise, the scale will form in the tank. One thing you should note is that the water used in the temperature and humidity laboratory must be pure water or distilled water. Otherwise, long-term use may cause blockage of the humidifier or internal pipes.
The above are the common precautions for using the temperature test chamber. If you adhere to the above points, in order to truly extend the service life of the equipment.
The lifespan of a temperature test chamber depends on how well you take care of it. And the more serious it is, the more careful it is. Therefore, temperature labs require more care. Just like your car, cleaning is the first thing you should do. After a humidity test, it is wise to wipe the inside of the system clean.
Occasionally you should also unplug the fake wall and check/clean the actual cooling coils and heaters. You should always clean the “steam generator” of the humidity system to avoid mineral buildup. Since many steam generators are hidden on site, it is especially important to be aware of this.
You also need to check the humidity detection system. If you are using a “wick” based system (used by a standard CLIMATEST SYMOR unit), the wick should be replaced after each test. In this way, you can ensure that it runs reliably. We recommend that you calibrate your electronic or solid-state humidity sensors every 6 months. Reg. Calibration, the combustion chamber controller should be calibrated once a year. This is hard to forget because many companies now have quality systems like ISO to track calibration.
1) Other processes
Another process that can prevent premature machine damage is to remove dust or other impurities from the machine. It contains many steps.
- Replacement of wet bulb test cloth in a temperature test chamber.
In addition, when the surface is not clean or hard, or after the temperature control is completed. Then you must change the test cloth before continuing the temperature and humidity control. In addition, the test cloth should be changed every three months. When changing, you should wipe the temperature-measuring device with a clean cloth. Of course, when replacing the new test cloth, it should be cleaned first.
- Make sure the cabin’s wet-bulb water level is correct
The water level in the water tank should not be too high. Make the water overflow pipe, or too low, so that the wet bulb test cloth is not wet. Abnormal water absorption, and wet ball water level accuracy can be maintained at about 60%.
When operating a temperature test chamber, you often encounter three common failures. Here is Linkotest’s summary of some of the solutions to these 3 major failures for your reference:
1) The temperature display of the controller is abnormal
- The temperature and humidity controller displays the abnormal temperature. At this time, we first checked the wet protector to see if it was still at 150°C.
- Check whether the pipeline in the working chamber has not been cleaned for a long time so that the water flow is not smooth and whether there is water in the water tank.
- Check whether the solid-state relay with humidity is short-circuited. If there is no problem with the heater, we can use the meter to replace the voltage range for testing.
- Finally, turn off the power supply of the constant temperature and humidity room, and open the drainage valve under the heating barrel to a position parallel to the pipeline. You need to drain the water in the tank, clean the internal dirt, and return in the opposite direction. After your equipment is in use, you need to close the drain valve under the humidifier barrel to a position perpendicular to the pipe. And turn on the main power at the back of the machine.
2) Frequent “jumps” during the day and return to normal at night
It means that there is no problem with the refrigeration system, which is caused by external factors, and the reason is that the heat dissipation of the condenser is not good.
Check: The reasons for poor cooling of the condenser are as follows:
- The condenser shows that there is air in the refrigeration system
- There is air inside the refrigeration system
- Air does not flow around
- The ambient temperature is too high
- The inner surface of the condenser is an oil film.
Inspection results: The cooling effect of the text box at night is normal, the above reasons (1), (2), (3), (5) are excluded, and the text box is moved to other places and no longer “jumps”. It is determined that the device is too close to the heat source, causing poor cooling of the condenser.
Solution: move the constant temperature and humidity test chamber away from the heat source and ventilate it to troubleshoot.
3) How do solve the problem of overpressure?
The first thing you need to do is confirm the ambient temperature, as most overpressures are caused by high ambient temperatures. You need to check if the room temperature is too high due to summer or lack of ventilation. If the room temperature does not exceed the above, you should check that the device is not too close to the wall or corner when placing the machine.
Because this will cause poor heat dissipation and alarm. Another consideration is whether you clean the machine regularly, as dust on the machine can also cause overpressure.
